After being a renter for nearly a decade, I bought my first condo in 2015 and learned the pitfalls of living in a self-managed community with underfunded reserves and deferred maintenance. In 2019, I started working in property management where I learned the ins and outs of managing tax credit and Section 8 properties. In 2021, I landed my first HOA management position, where I managed eight market rate and mixed income common interest developments, encompassing over 500 units.
In 2022, I took on the challenge of setting up new homeowner associations for Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco. This was an exciting role where I had opportunities to collaborate with real estate development, construction, finance, legal counsel, vendors, and community association managers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. What I loved most about this role was educating the homeowners. The highlight of my Habitat career was speaking as a panelist on HOAs at the Habitat for Humanity International Conference. After I left Habitat, I kept in touch with many of my former HOA clients who inspired me to start Housing Education Gal, LLC.
My mission is to empower individuals, communities, and organizations with the knowledge, tools, and guidance needed to navigate the housing landscape confidently.
